BEAR HOLLOW LOG HOMES

BUDGET AND PLAN GO HAND IN HAND! It takes just as much to build a regular home as it does a log home.  The first thing you need to do is figure out how much you can afford and how much you want to spend.  Then you can start to decide what you want to include in your home.   Your budget is really what will make this your home.

UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE CHOICES! There are over 500 different companies that are in the log home business. Some manufactures, some builders, some both.  All these get classified into two categories: Hand Crafted and Milled.  (Timber Frame Homes are not included in log homes because is only the framing is out of the actual log. They could be included if you do a timber frame with a log finish).  We have over 70 different log profiles.

SHRINKAGE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A STANDARD!  It is a myth that every log home has shrinking.  We take the time to truly kiln dry our logs.  This take out the shrinkage which allows you to place cabinets straight on the wall, build your doors and windows tight and not make modifications for your plumbing.

LOG HOMES ARE ENERGY EFFICIENT! Log homes are more energy efficient then standard stick framed homes, due to the Thermal Mass of the Logs.  The R-Value might not be as high but you have to heat the entire log from the outside in before it lets the heat in or out.  Log homes are typically 15-20% better on their energy costs.
